Strings of Comedy at the M Bar – Thurs, Sept 10 – with dating expert Dr. Alex Benzer
This month we’re trying something completely different. We have four musical comics and one dating guru, Dr. Alex Benzer, author of The Tau of Dating series.
Dr. Benzer is a regular contributor to the Huffington Post. His lectures include topics such as Why The Smartest People Have The Toughest Time Dating and How To Feel Good About Disappointing Friends. We are extremely happy to have Dr. Benzer blast us with 10 minutes of relationship advice and whatever else he has in store. This will be a serious treat. In fact the raffle prize for this show will be a signed copy of his new book, The Tau of Dating for Women. (TauOfDating.com)
Oh, and we have comics too!
Dava Krause – Dava is one of the youngest comedians to have her jokes published in “She’s So Funny” by Judy Brown. She has written the web series, “My Roommate’s Boyfriend”, produced by Comedytime.tv. Her self-deprecating and authentic style takes many exposing risks and can be heard on National Lampoon Radio. (DavaKrause.com)
Oded Gross – generally speaking, is a pretty open guy. Except when it comes to people who are different than him. Then his tolerance wanes. His videos “It’s All Because (the gays are getting married)” and “Just Found a Red Sock (in the laundry while washing my KKK sheet)” are both huge internet sensations. (myspace.com/odedgross)
Phil Johnson – isn’t angry. Even when he’s crooning horrible thoughts about an ex-girlfriend or calling out your co-workers for what they really are, it’s done with warmth and a knowing glance that it’s all in good fun. He’s neither an insider, nor an outsider, but the guy standing in the doorway watching both groups and laughing at everyone’s foibles, including his own. (RoadsideAttraction.com)
Chris Valenti – His songs, films, and jokes about foiled romantic opportunities and neurotic misadventures, vent the painfully funny universal suffering we all endure. His live show is part music, part comedy, and part cinema. (He shows a new film at every M Bar show.) A hopeful romantic with a twisted sense of humor, Chris uses blunt honesty, vulnerability, and self-deprecation to write comedy about the frustrations of life and attempted relationships.
